Chapman no tardó en hacerse amigo de Buck, y ambos constituirían con otro inglés jerezano, don Alejandro Williams (Williams & Humbert) y el marqués de Torre Soto (González Byass) una Sociedad de Monteros que arrendó el Coto a su dueño don Guillermo Garvey. Como puede verse, Chapman era el único de los socios que no era bodeguero local. Tanto en este libro como en el otro que escribieron al alimón, Unexplored Spain, Chapman y Buck dedicaron jugosas páginas al Coto de Doñana y a su vida silvestre.
